Yesterday was the finale of Leicester’s schools reading initiative, Reading Rampage. Really glad to have been invited to the event. Proceedings kicked off with a welcome from the ‘Whatever It Takes’ team and moved on to authors introducing themselves and their books. Heard some interesting little stories here, and the kids had a few chuckles. Here’s me talking about Sky Thieves.
After this, the kids split into groups and had the opportunity to meet four of the authors, (there were nine present,) ask them questions, offer them sweets and all sorts of other things. (I think one author was doing a science experiment!)
After these sessions it was a time for the Reading Rampage 2018 Award. Despite "Sky Thieves" not winning, it was great to be nominated, and a fantastic, well-organised event. The kids of Leicester are genuinely lucky to have the ‘Whatever it Takes’ team!
