Following a couple of visits to the Year 7s at Saint John Houghton School in Ilkeston earlier this week, I was invited back as Guest of Honour at the school’s end of year awards ceremony. It was lovely to participate in the ceremony, where pupils were awarded certificates for outstanding work throughout the year. It was nice to think I might be shaking hands with the next J.K Rowling!
Here’s me giving out awards to pupils during the ceremony.

As part of the evening I was also asked by the school’s headmaster to give a short speech.

And after the ceremony, there was time for a quick book signing.
It was great to be part of such an exciting event, where young talent is rewarded and nurtured. Keep on writing boys and girls!
